Solving with Students Year 2 Cadre Report

Leveraging Student Feedback to Improve the Learning Environment

Impact Florida’s Solving With Students Learning Cadre shows how listening to students can strengthen instructional systems, elevate teacher practice, and improve learning conditions across schools.

In its second year, the Cadre engaged 69 middle and high school math teachers from 17 Florida districts in a continuous improvement process using the Elevate by PERTS feedback platform. Teachers collected and analyzed student perspectives to inform decisions about instruction, relationships, and classroom culture—putting the Five Conditions that Support Great Teaching into action.

The results reveal how a teacher-centered, feedback-driven model can scale meaningful change:

  • Student-reported learning conditions improved in every category, with increases of up to nine percentage points.
  • Teachers who participated for two years showed greater and faster improvement, demonstrating the value of sustained professional learning.
  • Ninety percent of participants made lasting instructional changes, and nearly all expressed interest in continuing the work.
  • Classrooms using this model reported measurable gains in student engagement, trust, and math proficiency.

Through stories from teachers and data collected across districts, the report illustrates how small shifts—like consistent check-ins, group work, and data chats—can transform the classroom experience and build long-term teacher capacity.
