High-quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) dramatically improve student learning when they are implemented well. A key to successful implementation is supporting teachers as they shift from lesson planning to intellectual preparation—engaging deeply with the texts, tasks, and questions in advance so they can focus their planning time on students’ needs and strengths.

This toolkit, developed in collaboration with TNTP for Impact Florida’s Professional Learning Cadre for English Language Arts, provides practical tools for teachers, coaches, and school leaders to strengthen intellectual preparation practices.

What the toolkit includes

  • Four free, ready-to-use resources that can be applied individually or together.
  • Templates and protocols that guide collaborative planning and lesson/unit internalization.
  • Tools that align directly to HQIM to support rigorous, student-centered instruction.
